2024 Season! 30 years of Street Mini 4WD in Italy!
Hi everyone!
The past 2023 season marked a series of important milestones for the Street Mini 4WD:
- The beginning of Street Mini 4WD as a recognized sporting activity in Italy, thus aligning us with Indonesia! Since 2023, Street Mini 4WD has been a CSEN-affiliated amateur sports association and so recognized at a national level. It's a great achievement for all of us!
- The variable racer role, a curse and a delight for many, has given the opportunity to explore new types of races and new obstacles to overcome;
- The official introduction of 3D printing into our world has brought many innovations, and more is expected to come!
During the 2023 Street Mini 4WD season we took part in 8 national events between Cup and Challenge ones: this was also an important achievement! But who better than some of the season's protagonists can better describe our adventures?
Alessandro Barsi from Tuscany:
"I would say the season went well even if I would like to participate more but unfortunately the distance cuts us off a lot, we won a cup and a second place in the national competition ☺️ then speaking personally about the races I think I had a fantastic year. The final of the challenge of mixed that every time I think about it I would eat my hands because I had never made a mistake and the final with Takeshi that beautiful overtaking in Formula-1 style... but then as in all things there is also luck/bad luck... then I really love the mixed track because I love wide curves then straights but above all in the mixed there is the possibility of overtaking and I love it 😍 "
Fulvio "Iunto" Mastromatteo from Lombardy:
"From my point of view, the 2023 season was undoubtedly positive, not so much for the results obtained in terms of victories but for how the victories and results were achieved through training, comparisons and application. All these things have allowed me to fully enjoy this sport, understand it better and realize more and more what can and cannot be done. […] I seem to have perceived that there was fun on the part of all those who participated in the various races of the year as there was an increase in the technical level, an increase in competitiveness and consequently a greater pleasure of compete and compare."
Davide "Mr Gyp" Bagnara from Liguria:
"In the 2023 season, the introduction of the variable role and the rather constant presence of off-road tracks have forced the introduction of technical innovations that are difficult to ignore.
As often happens, changes are accompanied by initial discomfort, and the 2023 season is no exception. [...] I doubt there has been a single variable racer who hasn't experienced this sensation at least once during the car's development and racing. But the positive aspect of this is that once we overcome the obstacles we realize that it is precisely the uncomfortable positions that push us to reevaluate approaches and solutions even where we didn't think it was necessary.
After an entire season I think we have finally understood the role of the variable, which however is still decidedly immature, especially in track design."
As regards the current 2024 season, which will be inaugurated with the first event on February 25th, we will first of all celebrate the 30 years since the foundation of the Street Mini 4WD here in Italy! For this reason all the runners registered in the The association that participates in this season's races will receive a free special version of the Dash-1 Emperor on MS chassis!
The 2024 season of the Street Mini 4WD here in Italy will also be dedicated to MS chassis: anyone who uses the MS chassis in the events scheduled this season will also compete to win the qualification of MS Master Racer 2024!
Like last year, at the end of the season the 5 best Italian runners of the 2024 season will be proclaimed based on their performances in the various events. And speaking of the 5 best of the past 2023 season we also have some considerations from Alessandro:
"Speaking instead of what impress me the most, well obviously the award for the best "Mixed" racer, I honestly didn't expect it... in fact when you mentioned my name I was very happy because I had trained a lot, really a lot a lot and also in my opinion that I did it especially considering that we only come to Vercelli for the races, so for me it was very difficult because of the routes but most of all I was afraid that my mini could make some strange bad moves XD, so to win that trophy impressed me a lot... in fact I was very impressed when you called me to read that truly beautiful letter and it moved me..."
What do you expect from this season? We already have the answers to this question!
Fulvio "Iunto" Mastromatteo:
"My desire is to see the bar even higher in the 2024 season with a few more new entries and greater collaboration from everyone because as in all things what makes the difference is sacrifice, humility and dedication they put in place to achieve a goal."

"There will certainly be much more competition to win, therefore increasingly tenacious and strong opponents and also the desire to win from any team but above all I will expect very strong opponents "in my role"... so personally I will have to train to confirm myself as the best mixed driver 😎 💪"
Davide "Mr Gyp" Bagnara:
"I think that the variable tracks are still a step behind the others; perhaps it is precisely in the nature of the role that it is difficult to reach the physical limit, it is more a balance of compromises that bring different skills into play; this on the other hand, sorry the play on words, generates more variability in the races.
In the 2023 season we will be able to say that the variable role has concluded its infancy, I hope that during 2024 it matures to reach the maturity of the other tracks, or at least get close to it. To achieve this, new ideas on how to structure races and circuits are needed, in the hope that as many members as possible will contribute their unique point of view."
So all we have to do is compete together!
