In street races "The 5 numbers" are five different philosophies which you can follow to design your own Mini 4WD. Each of them aims to achieve the supremacy on a particular type of track.

The number 5 – versatile and multipurpose

This philosophy promotes the structures that allow a Mini 4WD to run on several kinds of track: a number 5 is usually lightweight, compact, and it shows its real potential in long races with variable ground. The number 5 does not immediately reach its maximum speed and does not exceed either in power or speed allowing the preservation of the energy of the battery. The number 5 tries to be better in the tracks where it is crucial get to the finish after dealing with variables that put to the test solidity and reliability of the machine. The features that make a Mini 4WD a number 5 are:

  • versatility: it is able to easily adapt itself to different situations;
  • reliability over long distances;
  • good speed (slow acceleration);
  • compactness;
  • lightness.

The number 4 – top speed

Numero4.jpg

The philosophy "number 4" considers the top speed on straight paths. A car designed in this way is characterized by extreme lightness and by a slow acceleration. A good number 4 is characterized by a body which is poorly subject to air resistance. The main function of the body in a number 4 is to cut the air to help gaining an extreme top speed. The stability of a number 4 is guaranteed by its aerodynamic body: when the car picks up speed its body allows the car to improve its grip on the ground. The features that make a Mini 4WD a number 4 are:

  • maximum top speed;
  • lightness;
  • aerodynamics: the body feels few air strength, when the car picks up speed its body allows the car to improve its grip on the ground.

The number 3 – speed and roadholding on turns

While the philosophy "number 4" is to extremes the concept of speed on the straights tracks, the "number 3" is a perfect car for tracks with are full of speed wide curves. A Mini 4WD designed as "number 3" tries to obtain its maximum speed quickly and it should be trustworthy on the wide speed curves. The aerodynamic line of a number 3 provides the use of wings and/or similar ones for acquiring roadholding on turns. The features that make a Mini 4WD a number 3 are:

  • rapid acceleration;
  • good top speed;
  • roadholding on turns through a fair balance and a strong air downforce, caused by any wings;
  • lightness.

The number 2 – Stability and solidity

Numero2.jpg

The philosophy of "number 2" is based on the concept of stability and find the best setup for technical tracks. A "number 2" car runs on tracks characterized by climbs, difficult turns and off paved. A number 2 car must be solid enough to handle the stress it will meet during its race. The overall balance of the car is definitely one of the best one features of a number 2: the search for a good roadholding is through a good balance. The aerodynamic design of a number 2 is used to improve the overall structure of the machine.

The characteristics of a number 2 are:

  • power and immediate acceleration;
  • excellent stability derived from a good balance;
  • solidity;
  • technical features: devices which help to obtain roadholding and good balance;

The number 1 – Overall efficiency

Numero1.jpg

The philosophy of "number 1" wants to find the best combination of power and speed trying to get a good stability without weighing too the car. A "Number 1" car is used on fast tracks, not too uneven and quite long. The features of a number 1 are:

  • excellent top speed;
  • good overall stability;
  • good lightness;
  • good aerodynamics, it's design promote downforce to obtain stability
